New comet --- C/2014 H1 (Christensen)

Comet C/2014 H1 (Christensen) was discovered on 2014 April 24 by the Mt Lemmon survey using the the 1.5m reflector. At discovery the comet was faint at magnitude 18. The comet was discovered near perihelion (April 16) and will remain faint. The closest approach to Earth (1.15 AU during the second half of April) means the comet will then be at its maximum brightness and will fade fairly quickly (by about one and a half magnitudes or so by the end of May). Therefore the observation period of C/2014 H1 will not be long.
